Action on ACEs Gloucestershire  is a unique collaboration between public sector, voluntary and community organisations. Our vision is a resilient Gloucestershire where communities and organisations are acting on ACEs by building resilience.

There has been huge progress since the launch of Gloucestershire’s ACEs Strategy at the Action on ACEs Conference in November 2018.  People from a wide range of backgrounds across Gloucestershire are talking about and taking action on ACEs and the momentum continues to build.

More than ACEs

Childhood adversity does not have to define who you are and we know that the negative effects of ACEs can be overcome by building resilience. Action on ACEs aim is to provide hope to those living with ACEs; knowledge to professionals working in Gloucestershire and support to communities affected by the impact of adversity by build resilience.

TED talk: how childhood trauma affects health

In this TED talk, Paediatrician Nadine Burke Harris delivers an impassioned plea for us to confront the prevention and treatment of trauma, head-on. In this 15-minute video, Dr Harris explains how the repeated stress of abuse, neglect and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain.
